TRAINING THE TRAINERS IN SPAIN

From 26 to 30th September 2016, trainers of the Chic & Craft project attended to an intensive training in the day center for people with mental illness run by INTRAS in the town of Toro. During these five days we had a great opportunity to learn and practice the most important points of the pilot course that is just about to start.

EMPLOYMENT OF PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS: THE SITUATION IN SLOVENIA

The estimated scope of persons with disabilities in Slovenia is around 12-13% of the total population, which does not differ significantly from the estimated scope in the EU. However, an increase in the population of persons with mental disparities is noticeable. Persons with mental health problems are often in danger of being stigmatized and ascribed as simply being different which can lead to situations in which they are treated as inadequate labour force.

BENEFITS OF WORKING IN AN INTERNATIONAL PROJECT

Rasa is Coordinator of International Projects at the Valakupiai Rehabilitation Centre (VRC) (Vilnius, Lithuania) backing a number of international projects with funding from European Commission, Erasmus+ and other international and national funds. International cooperation has been a part of the VRC’s activities since 2003. Through more than 10 years, there were many different projects related with vocational training, employment, sports, arts for people with disabilities or even quality assurance or constructions.

HOW ARE THE MANUALS GOING?

During the last months, the Chic & Craft team has been working really hard to develop the fashion designing training course: we managed to develop 53 training units! 53 beautiful, recycled, original and easy to do garments explained in a very detailed way that includes simple graphics and photos of the process.
